At one point Jesus and his message was so threatening that he was hammered to a cross and left to die. So is it surprising that something like this might happen again, in just a variation of the way his message is rejected? We have evolved over the last two thousand years. Maybe he would not be cruxified today...but...we can just as easily eradicate him in the way you speak of.

What a great post James. Thanks for sharing the article - it is so perfect! One of the major problems we have as a species is that we take ourselves too damn seriously. I love this guy!

I think it is helpful for it to start at the top of our culture. With the continuous ambiguity in our political system, it is hard for me to get a solid feeling of leadership. So the average person will need to shine the light in their neighborhoods and their workplace to make a difference. One other thing to consider is that there have been many "leaders" in history that have taken entire countries over the edge of a cliff. It is a conundrum.

I worked for Jerry Garcia at a little radio station in Redway called KERG. Like you, I was never a big fan -- I didn't even know Garcia was a founder of the Dead. Then I had to deal with all the Dead Heads crashing at the station on the floor and doing other strange stuff normall not done in public. "Touch of Grey," is possibly the old song of their's I truly understand -- who knows -- maybe I get it because it was also their only commercial hit.

Thanks for offering these thoughts to ponder. It leaves me wondering what potential effect there is in each willing person beginning that process of aligning with truth, establishing integrity, then deliberately operating from that basis. I feel sure it would quickly lead to a critical mass of positive, constructive growth. That would appear at each level, individual, family, community, region, nation, race, world... This has been shown by historical figures modeling the best in their purpose whether spiritual, noble, warrior, artist, farmer, hat maker, ditch digger, junk collector, vagabond, or whatever.

It appears people are still failing in their moral guidance -- but finding a direction in their faith. Humanity has always walked this two-way path. Your posting is very inspiring to me.

I love the PACE Program James!!

And BTW....I do have moments where I think my two young girls could run this country better than the politicians we have had in Congress and the White House over the last 20 years.

First of all, if you have access to unicorn milk, I really want some! Haha!

Unfortunately, even many of the GOOD leaders in the world today have an agenda which can often challenge the root of "integrity and values" that you mention. The stories you share about your father are so refreshing because they are perfect examples of how a parent leads with their heart, having many of the qualities that we seek in others as adults. I'm sure you never had to question whether or not your dad wore his Man Pants or not... I know that wasn't an issue with mine. I think we can all look back on our parents' leadership qualities and remind ourselves of the qualities of a leader who really cares.

Nice topic James :-)
